OLED, with a total thickness of about 1.5 mm, represents a completely new lamp generation. This new type can be easily integrated into different applications in an easy and space-saving way. The lamp creates the impression of a homogeneous area light that emits light with uniform intensity into the hemisphere. The attainable brightness depends on the light colour and can reach up to 1000 cd per square meter, the lamp life for ambient applications is ten times higher than the service life of a regular light bulb. This new illuminant that does not heat up provides new possibilities for designers of decorative and functional lamps.
