The precious composite metal material available in different combinations is used as a semi-fi nished product for goldsmiths and jewellery designers. The basic material for Mokume Gane is created by welding thin metal sheets of different nonferrous heavy metals and precious metals and their alloys with contrasting colours without using fl uxing agents and solder. The resulting metal layer blocks are then processed by using embossing, cutting, drilling, engraving, torsion, forging and rolling techniques. The fi elds of application include jewellery, jars and pots, watch and clock housings, writing utensils and glasses frames.
